With a 120’ vert used at the 2003 X-Games and two of the best cement pools in the country, the Y Skate Park is known as the best of the best. CJ Nelson, recently voted mayor of Scorpion Bay, jumped on board with GFH Boards’ Surf Team. CJ Nelson is one of longboarding's best surfers and his rebellious punk rock attitude and clean nose riding has landed him in several movies like Sprout, Another State of Mind, Way of Life and Walls of Glass just to name a few. GFH Boards and Nelson have been in talks for some time now and will be releasing a skateboard for Nelson that hits close to home for CJ and will be a great seller for GFH. This 70’s inspired throw-back, punk rock, shred stick will be released some time in mid '08. CJ Nelson joins GFH Skateboards at a time of rising and the company has placed a lot of energy and attention in building and improving upon the Team. The finalists for the 2008 Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards were announced making the culmination of what is likely the greatest year in big wave surfing history.GFH Skateboards is stoked to announce that 2 of our pro athletes have made the exclusive cut. Jamie Sterling and Tyler Fox were chosen for the prestigious award with prizes totaling over $150,000.Fox (top right image) and Sterling (bottom left image) are no strangers to the XXL awards, both have seen the nomination and in 2006 Jamie Sterling won best performance. Tyler Fox has been nominated for the 2008 XXL Big Wave of the Year and Sterling is up again for the Overall Performance Award.Both athletes ride some of the largest waves ever recorded and in some of the most amazing and legendary killer surf spots around the globe. The XXL Awards really is the Oscars for the mega surfers of the industry. If you want to see surfers with big brass balls you need not look any further than these select few. GFH Boards will be cruising up in the 40’ RV with about 20 of our closest friends to support Jamie Sterling and Tyler Fox. GFH Skateboards is proud to announce the newest addition to their list of professional athletes. On Monday, March 24 Shane Bonifay came on board with GFH boards to make for a great addition to the current professional line-up. Shane is the first professional wakeboarder on the payroll and who better to start out with than one of the best in the world. GFH Boards and Bonifay will be working together on a signature pro model skateboard due out in the next couple of months. GFH Boards has made it a top priority to work with wake and boat shops to cater to a market that historically grew up riding skateboards. It is a natural progression for GFH to enter into the water sports industry considering the vast majority of wake boarders and wake skate athletes ride skateboards on a daily basis. GFH Boards specializes in small retro cruiser skates perfect for travel and to kill time at competitions or that ever important beer run. GFH owner Garrett Hurley and team manager Tim Hoover have been on the look-out for an athlete within the water sports industry that fits the company and Shane Bonifay is a perfect match.
